Quick note

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Just something quick to say while I'm at work taking a small break from doing what I should be doing...

So one of my roommates and I got into a discussion about society. What will happen next? Stock market crash? Another depression? WW III? Environmental issues? We had a big discussion on how we believe that something serious will happen to our country. Who knows when, but with the way things look it may be sooner than later. History does tend to repeat itself (hence the comments about another world war or stock market crash and depression). We went on for a good 30 minutes last night and hope to drag our other roommate into a discussion tonight about it.

My thoughts? I could see another stock market crash and the next world war in the future, but I brought up the environment. I mean, how screwed up is it that it is February and yesterday it was almost 60 degrees outside? Today, it's 30 degrees and it's been raining/snow flurries all day.

What do you think??

February 25th, 2008

Wow...it's been a while since I've been on here. I kind of got side tracked with the new job and a few other unmentionable things that happened in my life. Things are okay I suppose. Yes, they could be worse...so I should say thing are good. Trying to teach some sense into teens (only because I can't knock it into them) everyday about the dangers of drugs and other things to do instead (some days I feel like it's a lost cause).

Time for bed. Tomorrow is another day at work. Another 10 hours. Another day with a group of hard headed kids that have probably already used too many drugs for me to make much of a difference.

Wow...I about forgot that I had this thing. Well, anyway...life is going quite well at the moment. Not much new. I'm still liking my job. I just recently switched to my 4 day weeks. It's nice because I have Friday's off, but it does kind of suck because I work till 6:30-7pm.

Okay, now for a bit of fun before bed. If you're not a fan of British humor don't even bother watching. If you've never seen/heard any British comedy, check it out!

My life after college

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
hedgehog
Work is going pretty well so far. It's hard to believe that this is life. Life after college is kind of boring/mundane/non-exciting. Get up, go to work, come home, eat, sleep and then do the same thing all over again. Don't get me wrong it's not bad. I love having a real job and benefits and all of that. College life was great though.

I'm toying with the idea of going back to grad school. I'm still in the debating stages, but it's become a real serious consideration the past few days. I like what I'm doing so far and I kind of want to go back to school. I'm not sure where I'd go or exactly what I'd go for yet. Something psychology related I'm sure. General psych if anything. I may even do school psych or counseling. That's as far as I've gotten. I looked at some schools today to see who had related degrees. I've found some places in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama. But who knows.

Okay, time to go lay down and read. Gotta get up bright and early, 6:30am.

Italy

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Italy was amazing! I went to Rome, Pompei, Florence, Siena, San Gimingnano, Pisa, Venice, Verona, and Milan. I took a ton of pictures and had a blast!

Wednesday I'm moving my furniture down to my apartment and Friday is my first day at work.

Okay, that's it for now because I still have a decent amount of packing to do and I have to take care of a bunch of stuff around the city before I leave.

College is over

So I'm now a college graduate! I walked last Saturday morning.

Now I'm at home for the moment. I came back after graduation and now I'm getting ready to leave again. Tonight I'm going to see my dad and tomorrow I make the drive to the Cincinnati airport with my grandmother and cousin to get on a plane to Italy! I'll be gone for 10 days and I can't wait!!

Work starts the 1st of June. I'm excited, but scared at the same time. I can't wait to get the rest of my furniture from home moved into my apartment. Sometimes I hate the fact that I'll be so far from Louisville, but I'll be close to Seth and out on my own.

It's finally time to start the rest of my life.

Good Times

My last Lizo banquet was tonight. I received the Outstanding Academic Achievement award for Elizabeth College. I get a pretty spiffy plaque next Friday to go with that.

I got a job so I'm no longer freaking out about what I will be doing after graduation (which is next Saturday the 12th).

Tomorrow is my last stressful day...Relay. I'm not too worried about it though. I've done it before and I have a lot of people helping me out. (Thanks guys!!) It's more of a tomorrow will be a long day feeling than a freaking out feeling.

After that the only thing is to find an apartment. My future roommates and I are working on that so hopefully we'll get something soon!

Now, off to relax for the rest of the night. I've been up and running around since 7:40am and I'm pooped. At least I got free food (senior breakfast) out of the whole getting up early deal.

Coyote Ugly fun

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Last night was a blast! So Seth, Justin, and I met up with Kris and her friends for her birthday celebration. We ate at the Cheesecake Factory. Yummy cheesecake. Then we made our way into Nashville. Oh and get this, we were walking to the bar and I happened to look down at the ground and what do I find? Yeah, I found $10! Hell yeah, that's right, I found $10 on the ground in Nashville last night. That helped pay to get Seth in the bar and for drinks. Anyway, so we ended up going to Coyote Ugly. It was great! I recommend that everyone go there sometime. It was a blast! Then Seth, Justin, and I came back here and hung out and had a few more drinks since Seth was dding for us.

It was a good night. Now back to studying.

The job front

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

So I took the exam for the state job yesterday. I think it went okay. I have to get at least a 70% on it to be considered and I think I did at least that well if not better. I still have one more set job interview in a week and a half too.

I've been so lazy lately. I'm just ready to graduate. Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with classes, it's just dorm life is not my thing anymore and I'm ready to leave.

I'm also stressing about getting a job. That's really the only thing that I'm worrying about at the moment. I'm sure I will get one somewhere, but I would really love to get one of these TN jobs. I don't know if I can handle going back home. I know living on my own won't be easy, but I'm not stressed about that. I think I'm more stressed about getting a job away from home so I don't have to go back home. I love my parents, but I don't want to live with them.

Tonight Seth and I are meeting some people in Nashville for dinner and clubbing for a friend's birthday. I'm excited. I don't know how excited Seth is, but hopefully he'll survive since his friend Justin is coming down to hang out with us too.

Whew, okay back to studying for this psych exam.

Life update

It's been far too long. I've gotten out of writing in lj since facebook came around and with graduation coming up I've been preoccupied with other things.

I've got a job interview coming up in 2 weeks and an exam to take for another job, both in Tennessee. Hopefully I can find something down there so I don't have to go back home. Don't get me wrong, I love Louisville, but with my life now being in TN would be a lot easier and less stressful.

Spring break was last week. I spent most of it in Murfreesboro with Seth, though we did drive up to Louisville for a St. Patty's Day party with camp friends. I came home Thursday and while I was home I got to see most of the family. I spent Friday with my mom and got a new razer phone! Saturday I babysat my little brother while my dad and step mom went to a company banquet. Oh and the awesome news about that, my dad was awarded district manager of the year!!

What else is new? Well, I'm headed to Nashville this weekend to take an exam to work for the state and then getting together with friends for Kris's (a camp friend birthday. Next week I have another test in my hell psych class. I pulled off a B on the last one so we'll see if I can do it again.

I need to get started on my reading since this weekend is going to be packed and my test is on Monday!

I don't really like Valentine's Day, but it is nice to get gifts you weren't expecting. I was expecting to get only a card and got mini roses instead! That was a nice surprise.

There were snow flurries this morning too.

I just got back from seeing Children of Men. Intense movie...Seth has been talking a bunch since we left the theater and I've just been sitting there. I have nothing much to say at the moment, still kind of taking it all in. It was a great movie though.

Finished with the first week of classes and things went pretty well. Almost done.

I need a shower...

Update

It's been some time since I last posted. I've been busy with New Years and seeing friends/family. For New Years, Seth and I went down to Gatlinburg and rented a house with his friends. It was a fun night up until I got sick and spent the next day absolutely miserable. We were supposed to drive back to Louisville, but we made it as far as Murfreesboro and I couldn't get back in the car because I felt too sick. I did get to see The Devil Wears Prada though as a cheer up/get better movie.

Got to hang out with the FU5 before Seth left too. Good times. Then it was on to my cousin's wedding Saturday night and I spent Sunday with my dad, step-mom, and little brother Ryan. Ryan is getting so big now! He's such a little show off.

Yesterday I went to see my grandmother and spent the morning with her. Then I did some shopping with Jo, met up with some Lizo people at Tumbleweed for food and then went comic shopping and bar hopping with Jo and Jacob. We ended up going to Molly Malone's and when we were done there Jacob thought it'd be a good idea to walk across the street to the other Irish bar and get another beer...so we did. Needless to say I ended up being dd and got a few laughs from Jo and Jacob.

Today I have to help my mom take down the Christmas tree, pack, meet a friend for dinner, and call Kris about tomorrow. I'm leaving tomorrow and I think I've reached the point where I couldn't be more ready. I love my family, but things are starting to get to me and my sinuses/allergies are driving me crazy up here.

Okay, time to stop being lazy and get all this stuff done so I can get out of here tomorrow.

I'm bringing sexy back

I've finally joined the 21st century and got an iPod nano for Christmas. Naturally it's pink and quite adorable (yes I did just say that). Anyway, getting to see the entire (and I do mean entire) family these past few days has been great. My mom and I carried on our tradition of going shopping the day after Christmas bright and early this morning. We fought crowds at Target to buy some wrapping paper/bows/tags/and the like on sale. It can be a pain, but it's always fun, especially since this may be the last year we get to do it!

Now I'm being lazy and waiting for the weekend. I'm still not sure when Seth will be up here. It was supposed to be Saturday so we could go to Gatlinburg for New Years, but he doesn't know if he'll be able to make it. I'm bummed, but at least I found out if he's not here Saturday then he'll be here Monday...better than him not being here at all.

I'm going to go enjoy my iPod and find out when dinner will be ready. Yay for chili!

I'm home finally. I had a great week with Seth and his family down in Alabama. We were there from last Wednesday till yesterday afternoon. The week consisted pretty much of helping get ready for the party Saturday and being completely lazy after the party. Yesterday when we got back to Murfreesboro Seth and I went to see Eragon. I liked the movie, but Seth didn't because he read the book and he said they changed a lot of stuff.

Seth and I got up this morning, went out for brunch, and then I made my way back to Louisville and he headed back to Alabama. I got to help my mom decorate our Christmas tree earlier. Now I'm completely exhausted from driving, moving stuff to and from my car, and going up and down the basement stairs.

Grades came in and I did pretty well considering that I didn't give a crap by the time I left. It's good to be home knowing that I only have 1 semester left.

Okay, time for bed, it's been a long day!

I'm done with everything except going to class, a few meetings, my Tai Chi final, reading, my organized crime final paper, and finals next week. I know that seems like a lot of stuff to do, but really I feel a huge weight lifted now. Yesterday and today I turned in two big projects and I feel so much better about everything. Sure my organized crime paper will be hell and I still have yet to do any research for my presentation on Thursday, but I don't care.

I'm so ready for this semester to be over. As soon as I'm done next week I'm packing up and heading for Murfreesboro before going back to Louisville. Oh and I got copies of my graduation packet back. They didn't screw anything up and all I have to do is pass 12 hours of class next semester and I'm done!

I also e-mailed my camp boss about one of the unit leader positions at camp for next summer. Not only did he add my name to the list of possibilities for that position, but he told me that he had another Program Staff position in mind for me! If everything works out money/insurance-wise, then I'll go back to Piomingo next summer.

Okay, now to stop being a slacker and work on this paper/presentation of mine. Human trafficking...sounds exciting doesn't it?

So there's only 1 week of classes left. I have a decent amount of work to do, but then again what else is new. My Tai Chi final is this week. We have to perform the form for the whole class. I'm not worried about it though. That class has been an amazing experience and a great stress reliever.

Seth and I watch the season finale of Avatar a little while ago. Great show!

I've been very reclusive this past week. I'm just ready for the semester to be over with. I'll probably be the same way till the end of next week too since I have a portfolio due Monday along with 2 papers and 1 presentation to work on. Oh well, next semester will be better. I'm only taking 12 hours...no Friday classes and a Monday class at 3pm! Sweet.
